JR told an interesting story, which I'll happily mangle for you now... years ago, when he was working with Quincy Jones and Rufus and Chakka Khan, they made him multi-track the drum parts because they were worried about the isolation. So he'd cut the kick... then the snare... then the hats... and finally built up the entire groove, one instrument at a time!Taken at a Drum World clinic in San Francisco, 6/6/94.
